Radisson Blu Hotel, Larnaca continues the implementation of the BluGreen Sustainability Plan Project, the EU-funded initiative developed under the fuTOURiSME programme to support the green and digital transition in the tourism sector.
As the project progresses, the hotel is moving beyond the initial planning phase into the practical integration of sustainability management processes and digital tools across its operations. The initiative forms part of the hotel’s broader effort to build a more structured, measurable and future-oriented approach to sustainability in hospitality.
A central component of the project has been the development of a dedicated digital sustainability management platform tailored to the operational realities of a modern hotel environment. The system is designed to support the monitoring of sustainability indicators, greenhouse gas emissions tracking, stakeholder engagement processes and the structured collection and analysis of sustainability-related data.
At the same time, the hotel has been advancing the development of its Sustainability Strategy, aligned with the principles of ISO 26000. Through processes including materiality assessment, gap analysis and the establishment of actions and KPIs, the organisation is identifying the areas where it can create the greatest environmental and social value while strengthening long-term operational resilience.
An important aspect of the project has also been the active involvement of staff through specialised training sessions focused on sustainability management, responsible business practices and the use of digital tools in decision-making processes. Through this approach, sustainability is gradually becoming more closely integrated into the daily culture and operational mindset of the organisation.
The BluGreen Sustainability Plan Project reflects the growing importance of combining sustainability and digital innovation within the hospitality industry, particularly in destinations facing increasing environmental and operational challenges. Through the project, Radisson Blu Hotel, Larnaca seeks not only to improve its own sustainability performance, but also to contribute to the wider transition of the tourism sector toward more resilient and responsible models of operation.
As the project moves toward its final stages, the hotel will continue implementing the remaining actions of the initiative, including the completion of its sustainability framework verification process aligned with ISO 26000 principles.
