Radisson Blu Hotel, Larnaca completes the “BluGreen Sustainability Plan Project”, advancing its long-term sustainability vision
Digital tools, structured sustainability management and ISO 26000 verification mark the completion of the initiative

Radisson Blu Hotel, Larnaca proudly announces the successful completion of the BluGreen Sustainability Plan Project, the EU-funded initiative implemented under the fuTOURiSME programme to support the green and digital transformation of the tourism sector.

Over the past twelve months, the project has enabled the hotel to strengthen the way sustainability is managed across its operations by combining strategic planning, digital innovation and internationally recognised responsible business practices. The completion of the initiative marks an important step in the hotel’s broader effort to integrate sustainability more systematically into its operational and long-term decision-making processes.

One of the project’s main outcomes has been the development and implementation of a tailored digital sustainability management platform designed specifically for the needs of a modern hospitality organisation. The system supports the monitoring of sustainability indicators, greenhouse gas emissions tracking, stakeholder engagement processes and the structured collection and analysis of sustainability-related data. Through these capabilities, the platform is intended to support more informed decision-making and continuous performance improvement over time.

In parallel, the hotel completed the development of its Sustainability Strategy, aligned with the principles of ISO 26000. The strategy was shaped through structured processes including materiality assessment, gap analysis and the identification of sustainability priorities, actions and KPIs. Areas addressed through the strategy include energy management, waste reduction, environmental performance monitoring, workforce-related topics and broader social and governance considerations relevant to the hospitality sector.

An important milestone of the project was the independent verification of the hotel’s sustainability management framework in line with ISO 26000 principles. This verification reinforces the organisation’s commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement, while providing an additional level of credibility to the sustainability practices and systems developed through the initiative.

The project also contributed to strengthening internal sustainability awareness and engagement across the organisation through specialised staff training sessions focused on sustainability principles, responsible business practices and the effective use of digital management tools.

Through the BluGreen Sustainability Plan Project, Radisson Blu Hotel, Larnaca has taken significant steps toward building a more resilient, data-driven and sustainability-focused operational model, reflecting the growing importance of responsible hospitality within the tourism industry.

Looking ahead, the hotel intends to continue building on the foundations established through the project, using the developed strategy, tools and processes to support ongoing improvements and long-term sustainability performance.
